July 7th, 2014 by

IYRS is an experiential learning school with an extraordinary education model for training highly technical and deeply craft-oriented people who want to think and work through their hands.  The school focuses on making, building and restoring, along with equipping graduates with important career skills like problem-solving, project management and teamwork.   Based in Bristol, RI, the school’s composites program has a state-of-the-art facility, attracting students and collaborating schools and businesses from around the region.

We are seeking an experienced composites builder, ideally with teaching experience.  Broad exposure to composite materials and associated building processes is essential, including hand lay-up, Gelcoat, chopper gun set-up and operation, vacuum bagging (wet, infusion, and prepreg), and plug and tool building both room and high temperature.  Strong problem-solving experience is a definite advantage with respect to damage assessment, repair and finish work.  Familiarity with a range of thermoset resins and their application is also essential.  CAD/CAM knowledge from design concepts through execution through CNC technologies is a strong plus.

We educate a wide range of demographics from high school graduates to mature and well educated students from top notch colleges.  You must be passionate about teaching and innovative in your thinking about curricula delivery.  Good presentation and communication skills are important.  You will be part of a highly motivated team in a serious experiential learning school that is highly regarded.
